William “Bill” Champ Ogden

William "Bill" C. Ogden, 89, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at Hope Community Presbyterian Church, 212 5th Ave. S. in Virginia at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Art Dale will officiate. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mesabi Range College Foundation. William Champ Ogden was born August 23, 1929 in Jefferson City, MO to Champ and Zona (Toombes) Ogden. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill attended Westminster College, Jefferson City Junior College, Missouri University, and UCLA. He received his master's degree in sociology. He taught in California for 8 years, St. Louis for 6 years, and retired from Mesabi Range College after 30 years.

Bill had an insulator and brackets collection and enjoyed old cars, firearms, antiques and his travels, which include Europe and the Middle East. He was beloved by his many students and was a fan of puns. He was an active supporter of Mesabi Range College's Scholarship Program.

Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Churches in Jefferson City and Bowling Green, MO.

Bill is survived by his second cousin, Roy Fishbach of Perry, MO and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
