William Hendricks Obituary

William George Hendricks, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, left this world on August 16, 2024, in Nashwauk, Minnesota, aged 79. Born on March 5, 1945, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to the late Roy and Ruth (Lenz) Hendricks, Bill's life was one characterized by laughter, generosity, and a profound dedication to his community.

Bill's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, the late Nancy Hendricks, and together they raised a family that was his pride and joy. He was a loving father to his children, Lisa Peratalo, Laurie (Louis) Chellico, and Bill (Sarah) Hendricks. His legacy continued to flourish through his cherished grandchildren, Erik (Breanna) Stish, Justin (Lindsey) Peratalo, Jordan (Madison) Peratalo, Halie (Tyler) Nash, Jager Nash, Geno Uhrbom, and Brendan Hendricks, as well as his treasured great-grandchildren, Julian, Ellie, Hadley, Henry, Kasen, and Saylor.

Bill is survived by his brother Gary (Carole) Hendricks, of Buffalo Mn.

The absence of his sister, Sandy (Hendricks) Case, is deeply felt, as she preceded him in death.

Bill's life was further enriched by the companionship of his special friend Joanne Rand, who brought joy and comfort to his later years.

Bill's professional life was marked by his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was a skilled electrician, plying his trade at Butler Taconite and National Steel. His affiliation with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was a source of great pride and camaraderie. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to public service. Bill served in the US Army Reserves from 1963 to 1969. He was the Mayor of Nashwauk, Mn for eight fruitful years, where he was respected for his thoughtful leadership and unwavering dedication to the betterment of the community.

A man of many interests and talents, Bill was also an active member of the American Legion post 307, the Masonic lodge, and for many years he was president of the Swan Lake Country Club. These associations were not just a testament to his willingness to serve, but also a reflection of the friendships he cultivated though out his life.

Bill's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing, activities that not only brought him peace and solitude but also provided countless stories to share with his friends and family. His enthusiasm for life extended to his grandchildren's sports activities, where he was a constant presence, offering support and encouragement from the sidelines.

A man with a song in his heart, Bill enjoyed singing and dancing, often becoming the life of the party with his humorous antics. Those who knew him will remember his funny, generous, and thoughtful nature. He had the rare ability to light up a room with his humor and to touch hearts with his kindness.

As we bid farewell to Bill, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by the laughter he shared, the service he rendered, and the love he bestowed upon us all. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will live on in the stories that will be told for generations to come.

Bill's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service—a life beautifully lived, and a man dearly missed.
