Wayne Thomas Anderson

Wayne T. Anderson, age 40, of McKinley, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth, Minn. He died from injuries sustained in an ATV accident near his home.

He was born on May 25, 1985, to David and Sylvia (Kariniemi) Anderson in Virginia, Minn. Wayne graduated from Virginia High School in 2004. He went on to attend the Mesabi Community College Carpentry Program. He was currently employed with St. Louis County Environmental Services in Virginia, Minn.

Wayne met Stephanie Lee and together they raised their children, Max and Trinity.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and the outdoors. He was a talented woodworker.

He is survived by fiancé, Stephanie Lee; children, Max and Trinity; parents, Dave and Sylvia; siblings: Brent Anderson of Big Lake, Minn., Laura Anderson of Virginia, Minn., and Kelly (Blake) Johnson of Virginia, Minn. Also deeply missing Wayne are his grandmother, Betty Kariniemi of Copper City, MI; nephew, Alec, and niece, Coral Anderson of Dassel, Minn.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by grandparents, Andrew and Lorraine Anderson; grandfather, Albert Kariniemi; uncles: Tom Aho, Tom Kariniemi, and Fred Anderson; and cousins: Kate, Aileen, Dane, and Jay.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Virginia, Minn. Pastor Pete Nelson will officiate. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the church.
