Virginia Evelyn Elofson

Virginia E. Elofson, 91, of Gilbert, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at New Journey in Eveleth. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. A private service will be held for immediate family. Virginia Evelyn Elofson was born August 15, 1926 in Newport, IN to John and Martha (Keller) Knox. She grew up in Indiana and married the love of her life, Donald Elofson on November 9, 1943. The couple later settled in Gilbert, MN following Donald’s discharge from the service, where they raised their family.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and was always actively involved in many areas of the church.

Virginia enjoyed the outdoors, sunbathing, baking, and spent many hours in her flower garden.

Above all, she was very devoted to and proud of her family and loved her Lord and Savior. One of her favorite sayings was “Good Gravy”.

The family would like to thank the staff at New Journey for their care and compassion during her time there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Elofson; sons, Jerry Elofson and Donnie Rae Elofson; foster son, Jim Ketola; parents; three brothers; and two sisters
