Violet Sophia Paloranta, 100, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hillcrest Alice Care Center in Hibbing, MN. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. She was born on July 4, 1917 in Virginia MN and was united in marriage to Lauri Paloranta in 1938. Violet was a wife, mother, grandmother who truly treasured family gatherings, especially the times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her years with her Women's Club, Ladies of the Kaleva and 4-H.

Surviving are her son, Duane (Mary Jo); grandchildren, Stephanie Lake, Stacy Boone, Dustin Paloranta, Amy Paloranta, Jeff Paloranta; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauri Paloranta; son, Allan Paloranta; parents, Jacob and Sandra Hakala; and her sister, Vienna Lataola.
