Troy Casper Obituary

Troy Joseph Casper passed away far too soon at his favorite place on earth, Lake Vermillion.

Troy came into this world a 11 lb. beast to Grant and Mary Casper on September 29th, 1970. He was proud to say they had to start feeding him cereal at two weeks, and he never stopped growing.

The second of six and the oldest boy, Troy took on caretaker roles from the beginning. There isn't a person that walked into Troy's home that didn't feel loved for just who they were. He adopted every one of the kid's friends through the years; encouraging them all in his own way. Troy showed this love through playing cards (even though he was the biggest table talker of all time), advice, and food. He would spend all day prepping the most amazing meals, and NOBODY left hungry.

We could walk through high school, college, banking jobs, and timeline, but Troy would think that was a waste of an obituary. Troy was a friend to all. He was honest, authentic, and one of the most loving and generous men you will ever have met. If you were fortunate to have received a Troy hug, you know. He LOVED fishing, and lived for his time on Vermillion with his long-time group of friends.

Troy's family meant the world to him. He proudly pointed at the picture in his office describing each of "the idiots". He loved them fiercely without limits, and the kids will always be his legacy.

Troy left behind siblings: Jennifer (Nolan), Sara, Jill, and Shari; sister-in-law, Emily; along with their beautiful families; his wife and manager, Jill Casper; his best friends and sons, Mitch and Hunter (Taylor) Casper; bonus kids, (he HATED that term, they were just "his kids"), Addy (Shep) Ferrie, Emma Ferrie and Max Ferrie; and the new absolute joy of his life, grandson, Vincent Troy R. Casper, who will carry on Troy's name . . . and size.

His parents, Grant and Mary; brother, Tyler; passed before Troy, and he always hoped to make them proud.

A Private Celebration will be held on Lake Vermillion for those who knew Troy well. In the words of Troy's favorite songs by John Prine, "When I get to Heaven, I'm going to shake God's hand and thank him for blessings that one man can stand." Please listen to the rest of the song, because it's just so Troy.
