Thora Elaine (Inglebret) Monson

Thora Elaine (Inglebret) Monson, age 87, died on January 19, 2025, at the Virginia Care Center in Virginia, Minnesota.

Thora was born on October 3, 1937, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Nagle) Inglebret.

Thora graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1955. She attended Virginia Jr. College for two years. She then completed her schooling at UMD, earning a Bachelors Degree in Teaching. Thora taught elementary school in Virginia and the surrounding communities, truly enjoying teaching.

In 1955, she married Martin C. Monson. They were longtime residents of Pike Township and raised their three children. Thora was a dedicated mom, wife and very proud grandma. She showed that dedication by being a horse show mom, attending horse shows every weekend, for many years.

She loved gardening, especially flowers. Cooking, canning, baking, and sewing were among her passions.

Thora and Martin spent endless weekends at their cabin in Canada; catching fish, picking berries, and enjoying cabin life.

Thora was a long standing member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and the Pike Sandy Women's Club.

Thora is survived by her son, Kerry Monson of Duluth, MN; daughter, Holly (Craig) Johnson of Virginia, MN; daughter-in-law, Sherri Monson of Embarrass, MN; grandchildren: Clinton Monson of Hibbing, MN, Mallory White of Virginia, MN, Dylan Johnson of Bloomington, MN; great-grandson, Derek White; and brother-in-law, Wally Monson of California.

Thora was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; beloved son, Shane; grandson, Michael Monson; and her eight siblings.

A celebration of Thora's life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia, Minnesota, with the visitation being held one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m.
