Roxanna Sue Swatek, affectionately known to many as Roxy, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the age of 68 in Duluth, Minnesota.
Born on April 4, 1956, in Washington, Kansas. Roxy’s warmth and vivacious spirit brought light and joy to all who knew her.
Roxy's journey through life was marked by the love and laughter she shared with her beloved husband, the late Robert Swatek. Together they created a legacy of kindness and generosity that will be cherished by their family and friends forever. She was a devoted mother to her children: Ronald (and wife Erin) Scovell, Tiffany (and significant other Steve) Hanley, and Cassandra (and husband Eric) Ziebarth. Roxy took immense pride in her role as a grandmother and was the adored matriarch to Dylan Potocnik, Lita Hanley, McKenzie and Zakkary Benson, Skylah Swatek, Elizabeth, Meesha, and Lucian Ziebarth, and Savanna and Sierra Scovell. The joy of her life was further multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandson, Zayden Hanley.
One of Roxy’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was always beaming with pride and offering unwavering support. Roxy had a unique gift of making each grandchild feel deeply loved and uniquely special.
In the kitchen, Roxy was a true artist, and her baking was legendary amongst those who knew her. Family gatherings were never complete without her signature desserts, and she passed down her recipes and techniques to her children and grandchildren, ensuring her legacy would continue to sweeten their lives.
Roxy’s kind and competitive spirit found its outlet in darts, where she was a regular at local leagues.
To the amazement of many, Roxy also embraced the digital age, connecting with friends and family through her unexpected passion for Pokemon Go. Her adventurous spirit shone as she explored new places in search of rare and exciting finds, often accompanied by a gaggle of her grandchildren, who delighted in their grandmother’s playful side.
Roxy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit and the memories she created will continue to provide comfort and joy. She lived her life fully, with an open heart, boundless energy, and a gentle kindness that touched everyone in her path.
She leaves behind an inspiring legacy, a family that adores her, and a community that recognizes her as a treasured friend, a doting grandmother, and a spirited soul. Roxy’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, joy, and connection, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the fortune to know her.
