Rodney "Rod" Marks, age 84, died at his home in Buhl, Minnesota on Monday March 2nd, 2026.
Rod was born in Chisholm on May 20th, 1941 to Melvin and Gertrude Marks. He was a lifetime resident of Buhl and graduated from the Martin Hughes High School in 1959.
Rod joined the Army in 1964, where he served in the Army Security Agency. He married the love of his life, Renee (Rusco) on June 19th, 1969. He worked in many careers and settled in Buhl where he focused on mining. He retired from Hibbing Taconite Company in 2004. He worked for the US Census Bureau for many years after retirement and was very active in community service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends over a good meal.
Rod loved his family, and raised his kids in Buhl right where he grew up. He loved fishing and being outdoors. His dog Jaxson held a special place in his heart.
Rod is preceeded in death by his parents Melvin and Gertrude, and his brother Ronald.
Rod is survived by his wife Maureen "Renee" Marks; their children Roger (April) Marks, Rochelle (Don) Crouley, and Michelle (James Creighton) Toratti; and Grandchildren Hunter (Alissa) Benson, Benjamin Marks and Lillyan “Lilly” Crouley; and one Great Granddaughter Lyla Benson.
A memorial service will be held on March 7th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Buhl, Minnesota with a celebration of life afterwards at the Buhl Senior Center starting at noon.
