Roberta Rae (Johnson) Tuomela

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Roberta "Bobbie" Rae (Johnson) Tuomela, who passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 76.

Bobbie was born on January 6th, 1948, in Virginia, MN where she grew up surrounded by a loving family. She moved to the suburbs of the Twin Cities with her first husband, Raymond Ralston, and started a family. Eventually she moved back to the Iron Range where she married her second husband, John Tuomela. Later in life they moved to Park Point in Duluth to enjoy the big lake and watch ships come through the harbor.

Bobbie lived a full life and was not afraid of jumping headfirst into new experiences. She had a passion for crafting - who can forget her unique earrings or her life-size mannequins? She had an adventurous streak too; while in her 50s she joined the Buhl volunteer fire department. Above all, she loved traveling to meet new people and see new places. Bobbie was a kind and generous soul, always quick with a smile and laugh that perfectly complimented her outgoing personality.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, John Tuomela; children: Peter (Dawn) Ralston, Bill (Amanda) Tuomela, Greg (Tiffany) Ralston, Sylvia Ralston; 10 grandchildren; her sister, Jeanette "Netta" Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews; all who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 am, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
