Robert D. Johnson

Long-time resident of Balkan township. Born in Hibbing, MN on 9/3/44, died 5/9/23 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth; after a brief, but valiant battle with leukemia.

“Bob” worked at Hibbing Taconite as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement in 2006. He was a man of many skills, including auto bodywork, mechanics, and excavation, who enjoyed spending time in his shop, nature – particularly the deer and squirrels in his yard, the various little dogs in his life, and time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by his son, Eric; his parents, John and Sadie Johnson; his siblings: Eleanor, Nancy, Alice, and Raymond.

Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; his daughter, Ann Marie (Joe Tomasetti); granddaughter, Kelsey; sister-in-law, Cindy Martinson; and a number of nieces.

Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no service.
