In Loving Memory of Michael (Mike) F. Hippolt
October 9, 1965 – June 15, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael (Mike) F. Hippolt, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the age of 59, while celebrating Father’s Day with his father, daughter, and brother. He passed while doing something he loved—fishing with those closest to him.

Born on October 9, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, Mike was the son of Louis W. and Jean A. Hippolt. He was a devoted husband to Amber and a loving father to Kayla, Dustin, and Cody.

Mike graduated from Aurora Hoyt Lakes High School in 1983, and went on to earn a Business Degree from Mesabi Community College, followed by an Automotive Mechanics degree from Hibbing Technical College. He worked for many years in the family business, Plaza Mobil, in Virginia, MN, and took over operations in 2006. Most recently, he was employed at Auto Value in Mt. Iron.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Amber; his children, Kayla (Colton Carlson), Dustin, and Cody; his father, Louis; his siblings, Louie (Carrie Beaudette) and Gina (Paul Koski); his nephew, Russell; and many dear friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean.

Known for his generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for family, Mike touched the lives of all who knew him. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, always making them his top priority. Whether it was a simple day outdoors or cheering on his kids' milestones, he found his greatest joy in being with those he loved most.

He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boxing, as well as attending automotive swap meets and car shows, and working on his beloved 1965 Chevelle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at North Star Church, with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome to gather after the service at the Elks Club in Virginia, MN, to honor and remember Mike.
