Mary Ann (Brant) Westerlund

Mary Ann Westerlund, 80, of Hibbing, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at her residence. Mary was born February 25, 1944 in Hibbing to Elmer and Anna Brant. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Vernon John Westerlund, on January 4, 1961 in Hibbing.

Mary attended Hibbing schools. While Vernon was in the Navy, Mary lived in Seattle and San Diego.

Mary and Vernon made their home in Hibbing.

Mary liked bowling, bingo, casinos, and crocheting. She also loved 4-wheel rides, and traveling on her many trips. She adored her grandkids and great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence Brant; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Brant and Janet Westerlund; her in-laws, Francis and Vivian (Jussila) Westerlund; and other relatives.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon; 3 children: Diana (Tom) Ricci, Ken Westerlund, and Victor (Lori) Westerlund; 4 grandchildren: Angela (Mike) Dabu, Cristiano Ricci, Patrick Westerlund, and Victoria Westerlund; 2 great grandchildren: Joseph and Alexandra Dabu; and her beloved dog, Chewy; 3 brothers: Jim (Eunice) Brant, Richard (Mary Lou) Brant, and David Brant; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Sanders and Sharon Brant; brother-in-law, Ray Westerlund; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Valentini's Supper Club in Chisholm.
