Mary Ann Swatek

Mary Ann Swatek, 63, of Chisholm, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at NHS Home in Chisholm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Range Funeral Home in Virginia at 10:00 am. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Mary Ann Swatek was born June 2, 1954 in Virginia to Charley and Ruby (Christenson) Swatek. She attended Mrs. Laituri’s special education class in Eveleth then went to work at CWDC (later Occupational Development Center). She retired from ODC in 2015 after over 30 years doing assembly work.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed wearing bright colors, (especially yellow and sparkly purses), going to ARC dances, and watching classic TV shows, such as the Brady Bunch. In her youth, she won a medal for her Special Olympics gymnastics. Mary always said that her great goal in life was to be a movie star in Hollywood and have babies. Though she did not accomplish this, she did enjoy wearing “Hollywood” sunglasses, the fancier the better, and was the BEST Aunty ever to numerous nieces and nephews. Mary made many friends and enjoyed the company of staff at her residences, including Lutheran Social Services, HOMES, and NHS. Most recently, Mary has enjoyed excellent care, friendships, and support, first at Evans in Virginia then at Orion in Chisholm.
