Marvin Arnold Hietala, age 85, of New Brighton, died November 4, 2025.
He was born August 2, 1940, in Virginia, MN, to Arne and Ellen (Siipakka) Hietala. Marv grew up in Pike, MN, and graduated from Embarrass High School in 1958.
While Marv worked many jobs over his lifetime, his true love was music, he was a gifted guitar player. He started and played lead guitar in a band called Kinfolk, performing at weddings and bars across the Twin Cities. He appreciated nice cars and collected guitars, servicing and customizing many. Marv was also a garage sale and auction aficionado; he loved to find a bargain! Since he was very mechanical and able to repair just about anything, he scored lots of great deals.
Marv is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Keith) Cooper; son, Steven Altobelli; sister, Linda Gish; and grandchildren: Erin Day (Spencer), Karen Diaz, Rochelle Petersen (Neil), Crystal Altobelli, Mitchell Bzdok, and Brittny Frie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna (Daniel) Bzdok; brother, Harold Hietala; and significant other, Marge Gilbertson.
There are no funeral services planned at this time. Interment will take place at the West Pike Cemetery at a later date.
