Marlissa Marie (Flannigan) Kanyo

Marlissa Marie Kanyo, 72, of Nashwauk, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 at her residence.

Marlissa was born September 18, 1952 in Lompoc, California to Loyd and Rita (Starkey) Flannigan. On August 5, 1989 she was united in marriage to Roy Kanyo in White, MN.

Marlissa loved to crochet hats-she was nicknamed the “Hat Lady”. She gave her hats to people all over Minnesota. She made hats for the AEOA who then distributed them to grade schools, breast cancer survivors, ladies going through chemo therapy, and kindergartens.

Marlissa was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Rita Flannigan; and brother, Danny Flannigan.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Kanyo; brothers, William “Bill” (Roberta) Flannigan and David (Susan) Flannigan; sons, Jeffery (Brynn) Johnson and Roy Kanyo II; daughters, Tracy Flannigan and Christina Kanyo; grandchildren: Nichole and Clayton Burlison, Isiah Allen, Damien Johnson, and Christopher Johnson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Visitation begins at 12:00 pm and continues until the service at 1:00 pm.
