Marla Belt, age 75, of Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Carefree Living in Virginia, Minnesota.
Marla was born on July 29, 1949 in Virginia, Minnesota to Ray and Catherine McCabe.
She attended and graduated from the Roosevelt High School in Virginia in 1967. She went on to attend the Cosmetology School in Duluth, then returned home to work at Mr. Jeff’s Salon.
She married Ron Belt in January of 1971. Marla and Ron were together for 37 years living in the Mountain Iron/Virginia area where they raised a family, ran Mac’s Bar, and helped build Anishinabi Lodge in Ontario, Canada.
Marla later went to work for the U.S. Post Office as a rural route carrier. After her retirement, Marla wintered in Arizona where she met many friends, but one in particular was Mr. Michael Rita. Marla and Mike spent the next several years traveling around the country together. She so enjoyed the adventure of life! One of her favorite hobbies was painting. She enjoyed giving her artwork as gifts to friends and family.
Marla was preceded in death by her father, Ray; her mother, Catherine; her husband, Ron; and her brother, Michael (Cathy) McCabe.
She is survived by her daughter, Natalie; her son, Ryan; and her grandson, Charlie. She is also survived by her sister, Shelby (Dan) Karakas; along with several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Marla’s life on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Mountain Iron Community Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
