Lon “Suds” D. Sundsvold

Lon "Suds" D. Sundsvold, 65, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 24, 2018, after a long-fought battle with cancer with his fiance, MeriLee, by his side. The Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Vene Qua on Main Street in Keewatin, starting with a short service with military honors with a lunch to follow.

Lon was born to Russ and Rose (Hansen) Sundsvold on September 7, 1952, in Forest City, Iowa. He grew up in Kiester, MN. After high school graduation, he served in both the United States Army and Marine Corps. He has lived in the Keewatin area for over 25 years. He owned Suds Pub in Keewatin, loved to ride motorcycle, drag race, drove truck and was always the life of the party. Lon was a member of the American Legion Post, Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, served on the Keewatin City Council and many other associations.

He is survived by his fiance, MeriLee Cowling; four sisters, Marilyn (Bert) Songstad of Phoenix, Arizona, Susan (Darris) Peterson of Scarville, Iowa, Julie (Rick) Aargon of Arvada, Colorado and Lori (Mike) Bethel of Big Lake, MN; sister-in-law, Karen Sundsvold of Grand Rapids; three children, Rusty, Rachel and Nick; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; and one grandson.
