Karen Braun Obituary

Karen K. Braun {Virta}, 89, resident of Virginia, Minnesota, died after a long Illness of dementia and heart related issues.


She was born January 15, 1936, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Nels and Amanda Virta. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953. Karen loved music and dancing and took great pride in her cooking. She always said that her food was her gift to those who enjoyed it. Karen worked at Mr. Steak and Grandma’s in Virginia until the age of 77. She was dedicated to her work and the people she worked with. She made one heck of a kabob and steak! Karen raised four children on her own. It wasn’t always easy, but she did the best that she could. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought great joy to her life.


Karen is survived by her children: John Braun {fiance’Julie Ruscito} of Virgina/Arizona, Jeffrey Braun {Mary James} of Virginia, Kim West {Andy West} of Lindale, Texas and Todd Braun, of New Hope, MN. Grandchildren: Christopher Braun, Chisholm, Drew West and Mykel West, Lindale, TX, and Steven Braun {Andy Phillips}, Boston, Massachuestts, and Mars Braun, Boston, Massachusetts. Great Grandchildren: Tyler West, Brody West and Lucas Smith of Lindale, TX. and daughter in law Joan Moesenthin Braun.


Karen is preceded in death by her mother and father. Her sisters Virginia {Bill} Pershern, Gloria {Art} Bowman, June Feinberg, Jean {Wally} Perushek; daughter-in-law, Elaine Braun; great-grandson, Jaxson Braun; along with aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.


Per her request there will be no service as she wants people to remember her how they last saw her.
