John "Jack" Thomas Strle

John T. "Jack" "Backseat" Strle, age 57, of Virginia, MN, and formerly of Parkville and Gilbert, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2024, after battling a lengthy illness.

Jack was born to John and Beverly (Sackery) Strle on September 10, 1966 in Virginia. He grew up in Parkville, and attended school in Mt. Iron. Following graduation, Jack went to work for the family business in Gilbert. Jack worked for his dad, then running the family business, until a stroke at a young age left him disabled. Jack resided at Edgewood Vista in Virginia for the last 21 years until his passing. Jack had a great sense of humor. He made many friends at Edgewood, and was well known for his love of loud rock and roll music. He liked to play his vinyl records on his stereo and turn it up good and loud without complaints. Both residents and staff alike were happy to oblige, and have expressed how much they will miss him and his music. Jack's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Edgewood Vista and Caring Edge for the continued care, kindness and compassion they have shown Jack over all the years and right up to the end. Jack was happy living in Edgewood.

Jack's other love in life was his daughter, Beverly. They shared a special bond, and could visit at length and share stories of past shenanigans, and on occasion would catch a car show or some lunch. Every visit ended with knuckle bumps and some goodies for her to take home. It was a special tradition that carried from her childhood, and that Jack kept between them until his passing.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Beverly Strle of Hibbing; sister-in-law, Sharon Strle of Gilbert; his aunt, Sharon Strle; cousin, Barb Buck and her daughter Brittney Buck, all of Mundelein, IL; uncle, Bob Sackery of Arkansas; nieces, Anna Lisa (Paul) Chapman of Gilbert and Jennifer (Matthew) Tourigney of Britt; nephew, John Strle of Hibbing; numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; father, John; step-mother, Carol Lee Strle; brother, Jerry Strle; brother, Tony Strle and sister-in-law Lorna Strle; maternal and paternal grandparents; uncle, Frank Strle; and aunt, Linda Sackery.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Gilbert VFW. Please come join us to share some laughter, conversation and lunch, and to share stories in Jack's honor.
