Joen Alberta (Latvala) Dicks

Joen Alberta Dicks, 94, formerly of Keewatin, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation in Hibbing.

Joen was born December 5, 1928 in Minneapolis to Myrtle “Pat” and Edwin “Finn” Latvala and raised in Nashwauk. She married Mason Dicks on October 5, 1957 in Rochester, Minnesota and they enjoyed 50 plus years together.

Joen was a stay-at-home Mom, dedicating herself to her family and raising her son.

Joen was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle (“Pat”) and Edwin (“Finn) Latvala; husband, Mason; and sister, Jean Heyblom.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Susan) Purkat, granddaughters, Stephanie (Steve) Lindauer and Michelle (Chris) Pearson; brother, Milt (Bonnie) Latvala; nieces: Gail Heyblom, Arnell (Tom) Galley, Karen (Tom) Martire, Kris Bielecki, Cara (Wally) Helmbrecht and Amy (Jeff) Sundquist; and nephew, Greg Heyblom.
