Jerome Wiener Obituary

Jerome James Wiener, age 89 of Elk River, formerly of Babbitt, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at an assisted living in Elk River, MN. Born on April 13, 1935, in Thief River Falls, MN, Jerome lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his love for the outdoors.

Jerome completed his education by earning his GED in the armed forces. Jerome proudly served his country in the Army and was stationed in Germany for three years. His time in the service was a testament to his commitment to his nation and the values he held dear.

Upon returning to civilian life, Jerome embarked on a career as a Millwright, working diligently for Reserve Mining Co. and LTV Steel. His hands were skilled, and his work ethic was unmatched, making him a respected figure among his colleagues. Jerome's love for his community was further exemplified by his active involvement in the Conservation Club in Babbitt and his membership in the Babbitt ATV & Snowmobile Club. He dedicated countless hours to making and creating trails in his beloved skid steer and grooming snowmobile trails, ensuring that others could share in the joy of the outdoor activities he so loved.

Jerome was a man who found his greatest pleasure in the simplicity of the natural world. An avid hunter, snowmobiler, and gardener, he relished every opportunity to be outside, whether it was picking berries or riding side-by-side through the Minnesota landscape. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. Jerome was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jerome was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Lila Wiener. He is survived by his son, Jerry (Danielle) Wiener of Babbitt; his daughter, Susan (Russ) Reiter of Big Lake; and his grandchildren, Makenzie and Nolan Reiter of Big Lake. Jerome's memory will also be treasured by the many wonderful friends and extended family members whose lives he touched.

Described by those who knew him as loving, friendly, and handy, Jerome's impact on his community and loved ones was profound. He had a knack for fixing what was broken, building what was needed, and nurturing what was growing.  His advice was wise, and his door was always open. Jerome's life was a testament to the power of kindness.

As we say goodbye to Jerome, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will continue to inspire us, his stories will keep us company, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 am, Friday, May 16, 2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Babbitt.  Burial will be in the Argo Cemetery.
