Gerald “Gramps” John Martinson

Gerald “Gramps” John Martinson, 63, of Hibbing, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the University of MN Medical Center. A Memorial service will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor Timothy Yearyean will officiate. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.
Jerry was born October 14, 1954, in Chisholm. He grew up in Hibbing and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1973. Following his graduation, he worked for MinnTac, Rapids Thermo Gas and Iracore. He married Sherilyn Willard on June 1, 1974 and they made their home in Hibbing, where they raised their family.
Jerry loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, watching Nascar and attending his grandchildren’s sports. He looked forward to his fall vacation to Detroit Lakes. Most recently, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle any chance he could.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Sherilyn; mother, Marjorie; sisters, Anna LaFleur and Margie Mae Niederkorn; brother, James Martinson; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Gwenith Willard; sister-in-law, Mary Martinson; nephews, Shawn Martinson and Spike Willard; special friend, Garry Edmonds.
