George McGuirk, 74, of Mountain Iron, died Monday, April 4th, 2023 at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth.
He was born on November 9th, 1948, to George and Irene McGuirk in Brooklyn, New York.
He married the love of his life, Debra, on May 10th, 1970 in Duncan, Oklahoma. They had 2 children, Tammy and Patrick.
George was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. During his time in the service, he spent 3 years in Germany before coming back to the states. He would eventually move his family to Hoyt Lakes, MN, where they spent the vast majority of their lives.
For many years, he worked over the road driving truck for Jeff Foster. After retiring, he spent recent years working as a greeter for Walmart.
George is survived by his wife, Debra McGuirk; son, Patrick McGuirk; daughter, Tammy Hamilton; son-in-law, Michael Hamilton; grandson, Stephen Hamilton; granddaughters: Cadence McGuirk, Alison Hamilton, and Jordan Hamilton; great-grandson, Noah; brother, Robert McGuirk; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene; and siblings: Mike, Kathy, and Jeanne.
A celebration of life will be held at Range Funeral Home in Virginia, MN on Monday, April 24th, 2023 at 12 pm. Following the service, there will be a lunch gathering for family and friends at the Sawmill Saloon Banquet Room in Virginia, MN starting at 1 pm.
