Edward Ben Heikkila, known to his family and friends as Eddie, passed away on February 2, 2024, in Hibbing, MN, at the age of 58. Born on March 29, 1965, in Virginia, MN, Eddie was a man who lived his life with a warm heart, a love for laughter, and an enduring passion for the simple joys that make life so precious.
Eddie was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1983, where he formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was known for his musical talent, often found strumming his guitar, filling rooms with melodies that spoke to the soul. He had a natural affinity for spending time on the lake. Eddie's culinary skills, especially his mastery of barbequing, were legendary, and his dishes were the highlight of many gatherings, large and small.
Eddie's memory is cherished by his daughters, Kerry (Chet) Bishop of Rockford and Emma Heikkila of White Bear Lake. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Owen Heil and Harrison Heil. His sister, Sally Heikkila of Eden Prairie, will hold dear the bond they shared and the laughter they created together.
He now joins in rest his parents, Edward A. and Phyllis Heikkila, and his sister, Jane Kirsch, whom he is preceded in death by. Eddie's legacy is one of love, music, and the beauty of everyday moments. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his infectious laugh, and his ability to always have fun.
Eddie's life was filled with love, family, and friendship that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. Eddie's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of his family and friends.
