Donna LouVernice Olson, 88, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Guardian Angels in Hibbing. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11 at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, January 12th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 12:00 noon. Pastor Kevin Olson will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.
Donna was born December 28, 1929 in Twin Valley, MN to Melvin and Hildur (Bjerkley) Gunderson. She attended school in Twin Valley. Donna married Owen Olson on October 1, 1949. Donna’s life was about her husband and family. There was never a time that you went to visit them when there wasn’t coffee and baked goods. The coffee was always on and the cards were ready to play. She loved to dance, play cards and listen to country music. She also loved Bluejacket wrestling. Donna was a member of the Sons of Norway, the Maple Hill Hall and a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Hildur; sisters, Elaine, Janice, Adell and Ardis; brother, Jewell; son-in-law, Gordon Betters.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Owen; 7 children, Vernice Stalboerger of Hibbing, Cheryl (Stan) Koskela of Hibbing, Karen Frazier of Crosby, MN, Marcia Betters of Hibbing, Amy (Harold) Clark of Virginia, Michael (MaryJo) Olson of Little Falls, MN, David Olson of Chanhassen, MN; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 brothers, Wayne (Phyllis) Gunderson, Melvin (Lois) Gunderson Jr.; 3 sisters, Melva Boreen, Shirley (Allen) Thronson, Beverly Williams; special friend, Helen Sabin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
