Delores "Dolly" Niemi, age 92, of Waconia, former longtime resident of Wolf, MN, passed away at New Perspective Senior Living on Monday evening, May 12, 2025.
Delores was born at home in Sparta to Larry and Laura (Estes) Jacobson. She was raised near Ely Lake and in Sparta. Delores attended Eveleth Schools, graduating in 1951, from Eveleth High School.
Dolly married Donald Niemi on June 5th, 1954. They made their home on a farm in Wolf for over 50 years. Dolly was well known for her fabulous baking. She was also a 4H leader and lifetime member of the Wolf Homemakers.
Delores was employed with Cluett Peabody & Company in Eveleth for 25 years. She was also employed with the Virginia Arrowhead Nursing Home for 10 1/2 years.
Delores was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Virginia and Cedar Valley.
Dolly is survived by daughters, Deborah Jorgenson-Nelson, and Doreen (Ray Isaacs) Niemi; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen Severson; brother; Donald (Maureen) Jacobson; and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Niemi; son, Donald Niemi Jr.; and parents, Lawrence and Laura Jacobson.
Services will be held this Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia, MN. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time. Burial will be Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11 a.m., in the Eveleth Cemetery. Pastor Wayne Bergstedt is officiating.
