Deborah "Debbie" Elizabeth (McGillivray) Hanela passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Debbie was born on May 25, 1945, to parents, Rodrick and Martha (Roth) McGillivray.
She was married in 1968, to Alan Bozicevich Sr. They were blessed with two children, Alan Bozicevich Jr. and Amy Bozicevich.
She was then later married in 1978, to Kenneth Hanela; and blessed with two stepchildren, Wendy Rork and Craig Hanela.
Debbie graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963, and Virginia Junior College in 1965, in Virginia, Minnesota. She then went on to attend and graduate from the Columbia Basin College in 1989, in Pasco, Washington.
She worked in Business Administration for several privately owned companies.
Debbie enjoyed Bible study, genealogical research, flower gardening, reading, meeting classmates for lunch each month, meeting new people, learning new things, and traveling.
She worshipped and served the Lord with her church family at North Star Church, in Virginia, Minnesota.
She was a Girl Scout leader, exercise leader for the Embarrass Community and Senior Living in Richland, Washington, volunteered at the Richland Public Library, Virginia Regional Medical Center and Jackie’s Attic Thrift Store, a member of VHS Class of ’63 alumni reunion committees, Red Hat Makinuts and Clan MacGillivray Society USA.
Survivors include her children: Alan (Paula) Bozicevich Jr. of Embarrass, MN, Amy Bozicevich (Scott Toratti) and son Matt of Virginia, MN, Wendy (Todd) Rork and children Ellie and Aidan of Bayview, ID, and Craig (Margarita) Hanela and children Max and Matilda of Seattle, WA; siblings: Rod (Kathy) McGillivray of Grimes, IA/Mesa, AZ, Peter (Elaine) McGillivray of Tower/Blaine, MN, and Bergetta (Mike) Indihar of Tower, MN; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Hanela of Ely, MN, Mary Jane Schuster of Brown’s Valley, SD, and Ellen Hitner of Embarrass, MN; along with cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Kenneth Hanela in 2010; and nephew, Brian Rodrick McGillivray.

A memorial service for Debbie will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the North Star Church (302 Second Avenue North Virginia, Minnesota 55792) with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 2:00 p.m. Any floral memorials can please be sent to the North Star Church per the family's request.
