Deborah K. Roy, affectionately known as Deb, age 65, passed away with family by her side at St. Luke's hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 2, 1958, in Del Rio, Texas to Donald and Lidia Harmes.
Deb's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. She celebrated 45 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert Roy. Rob and Deb were united in marriage on November 3, 1979. They started their journey in Massachusetts before moving to Minnesota in 1997. Together they raised two wonderful children, Robert Roy and Wendy (Jeffery Wudinich). Deb had four very special grandchildren and she took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Nicole, Ajay, Nickolas, and Charlie. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Her extended family was a reflection of the warmth and compassion that Deb carried with her always. She was a cherished daughter-in-law to Barbara Roy and a loving sister to Bernie (Terry) Harmes, Michael (Jean) Harmes, Joseph Harmes, and Linda (Charles) Bendickson. She also held a special place in her heart for her sister-in-law Cynthia (Roger) Bernier, sister-in-law Diane Bovat, and brothers-in-law Stephen Roy and Briand Roy. Many special and loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Professionally, Deb was a dedicated employee at Walmart, starting her journey in 2001 at the Hibbing store before transferring to the Mt. Iron location. There, she made countless special friends and was known for her work ethic, warm smile, and the ability to make everyone feel at home. Her colleagues were not just coworkers but became part of her extended family.
Deb's passion for life was evident in her many interests. A phenomenal cook, she loved hosting family gatherings, especially during the holidays, ensuring that everyone left with full hearts and bellies. During the summer, Deb enjoyed having family and friends over for "picnics." Saturdays were reserved for pizza days with Rob, whether it was home made pizza or trying the local pizzeria's. Deb also relished the opportunity to travel and visit family members, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Deb's spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Deborah K. Roy will be deeply missed, yet her memory will live on as a guiding light to all. As we say farewell to Deb, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts and the world around her.
