Dean "Deano" Alan Markley

Heaven just gained another beautiful soul as Dean Alan Markley (Deano), age 63, passed away at his home in Britt on Saturday, June 1, 2024, after a year long battle with lung cancer.

Dean was born and raised on the Iron Range where he attended Roosevelt High School. He had a variety of jobs including LTV Mining; Fortune Bay Resort and Casino, and Carefree Living in Cook, MN.

Dean wasn't someone you would easily forget. He opened his heart and home to everyone. Music filled his heart, mind, and soul. He spent years playing guitar in bands with various musicians. He was willing to teach guitar to anyone wanting to learn. He cared deeply about the people in his life. He will be forever missed. Dean especially loved his dog, Ruby Rose Tootsie Toes.

Dean is survived by his wife of almost 28 years, Gail (Koebensky) Markley; sister, Dawn Carlson; brother, Russ Markley; nephew, Brett Carlson; niece, Tessa Markley; numerous cousins, other relatives,and many friends. Dean was preceded in death by his parents.

His wife would like to thank Fairview Range Home Care and Hospice; and Zach, Miranda, Sarah, and Kylah for all the care provided.

A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held at a later time.
