Dawn Christine (Peterson) Crayne passed away Sept 13, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends. Dawn will be greatly missed by those she left behind.
Dawn graduated from Cherry High School where she met a fellow classmate and became the girl of his dreams for 41 wonderful years. Dawn wanted to stay in the area so she made her home in Iron. When the opportunity came, she was able to live the life she wanted, choosing to leave work to stay at home with her children and entertain the neighborhood kids when needed.
Dawn's hobbies kept her busy throughout all seasons. Summertime she filled the yard with many varieties of plants and flowers, trying to attract bees and birds. Dawn kept a close eye on the bird feeders all year long, always looking for that unique visitor, seeing several over the years. Wintertime would keep her indoors more often, so she would make crafty items for family and friends. Dawn's favorite thing to do was to shop for others. If you saw her in a store with a cart full, chances are, none of it was for her. Dawn loved shopping and donating anonymously.
Throughout her life, Dawn made friends wherever she went. Those who met her felt an immediate connection. During her medical odyssey she met many great people. Her medical teams became true friends. From texting, to calling her to wish her a Happy Birthday, to visiting her during her stays at the hospital or sending her wonderful pictures of their beautiful families.
A very special Thank You to the Intervention Radiology Team at Essentia Health in Duluth. They treated Dawn above, and beyond, what anyone could expect. Also a Special Thank You to Dr. Peterson and nurse Shelly of Essential Health in Virginia Hospice.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Terry; her two children, Jessica (Justin Keith), and Alex Crayne. Granddaughter, Sophia Keith. Mother, Janet Peterson; sister, Jan Piguet; brothers, Scott (Danielle) Peterson, Joel (Ann) Peterson, Nathan (Tammy) Peterson, and sister, Nora Haigh. Also several nieces and nephews; and her precious godchildren. Dawn is also survived by her dear, close friend, Marlys Goerdt. Dawn leaves behind her four legged sidekick and protector, Sadie.
Dawn was preceded in death by her sister, Sheri Peterson; father, Roger Peterson; as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Clinton Hall from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
