David Oliver Saukko, lifetime resident of Eveleth, passed away at the Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota.
Dave left this world on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the young age of 62. He was born on January 12, 1962, to parents, Oliver and Norma (Niemi) Saukko. He was a lifelong Iron Ranger, and resided in his childhood home in rural Minnesota.
Dave graduated in 1980 from the Cotton School, and attended higher education training following graduation. He worked at J&L, Erie Mining Company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and US Steel Minnetac.
Dave enjoyed attending gatherings with his family and friends, especially when delicious meals were served. Dave looked forward to hunting, teaching kids about firearm safety, watching old John Wayne movies, and spending time with friends in his hunting shack.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents; many aunts and uncles; several cousins; and a special godson, Cameron Gregorich.
Dave, aka "Uncle Dave," is survived by his brother, Paul Saukko; numerous cousins; many close friends; and a number of very special Minnetac coworkers.
Dave will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life (a picnic with delicious food as Dave would have enjoyed) will be held in the warmer weather in 2025 at a location where Dave spent much of his time.
Dave passed appreciating all his family and friends who gave their support and prayers.
Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
