David Haglund Obituary

David "Dave" Haglund passed away on March 28, 2026 of kidney failure at Edgewood Vista in Virginia MN. He was born on March 29, 1972 to Alice Haglund and the late Walter Haglund at the Hibbing General Hospital, He lived in Hibbing until 1988 and then moved to Virginia, MN.

David graduated from Virginia High School in 1990. He was a sports enthusiast and played on the football and basketball teams; he was also a Math Scholar. Dave attended Mesabi Community College and graduated with an Associate of Liberal Arts degree. While in college, he was on the Varsity Football team, was a member of the Drama and Computer clubs, and worked on the school paper.

After college, David worked at the Range Office Supply & Equipment for several years as the Office Machine Technician. He also worked a few years as the Shipping/Receiving and Electronic Tester for Lifetouch Inc. and Office Machine Technician for Metro Sales Incorporated.

David was an active member of the North St. Louis County 4-H Program for 13 years. As a member he exhibited each year at the N. St. Louis County Fair, winning many ribbons, including many Grand Champions, earning him trips to the State Fair where he again won Grand Champions. After his 4-H career, he became a 4-H Volunteer at club, county, and state levels. Dave liked to play Dungeons & Dragons and other fantasy games on the computer. He was a big Vikings fan and an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting. David was a 'foodie', he loved to cook and eat too. He also loved gardening.

David is survived by his mother Alice Haglund (Virginia Beach, VA); 2 brothers Walter (Erin) Haglund II and Brian (Donelle) Haglund; Aunts & uncles Diane (James) Current, Alan Strbavy, and Sheree Denton; nieces and nephews Alec, Andrew, Adam, Aaron, Kaleigh, Devyn, Tyberius, and Meredyth; and cousins Kelli, Kerri, Chris (Carla), David, and Stacy.

He is preceded in death by his father Walter Alan Haglund; his aunt and uncle Linda and Jim Ritz; paternal grandparents Helen and Nestor Wuori; and maternal grandparents Ethel and Dave Denton.

A Celebration of Life for David will be at the Eveleth Fayal Town Hall, 4375 Shady Lane, Eveleth, MN 55734 on April 10, 2026 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. A light lunch will be served. David loved 'Pot Lucks' so anyone who would like to bring something to share is welcome to do so. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
