Darrell Edward Snidarich was born January 17, 1947, the first born to Edward A. and Helen I (Hytonen) Snidarich. He graduated college from Staples as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Darrell served as a wrecker driver in Vietnam from 1969-1970, retrieving jeeps, tanks, and army equipment. During his time in the service, he received Good Conduct Medal, Pvt Aus Vietnam, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2 bronze service stars), Expert Badge Riflery, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. Darrell worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Virginia until he suffered an aneurism at the age of 55 which caused him to retire from the city. He was the official greeter at Edgewood Vista, always by the front door offering a smile and conversation.

Darrell put everyone else ahead of himself. He loved his friends and would do anything asked for them and was always on the "hunt" for a deal for everyone. He never stayed at any one place for very long, he was always on the move. His mother said when he was born "If you blinked, he was gone", and that never changed as he got older. He never complained no matter the problems or pain.

Darrell enjoyed fishing, smelting, boating, hunting, and polka music. He helped out in the kitchen at the American Legion in Virginia on Burger Day for many years and at the Lion's Den for the Land of the Loon.

He was a member of the American Legion in Virginia, the Moose Lodge in Virginia, Virginia Lions Club, Range Polka Club Inc., VFW Post #1172 on Eveleth. Darrell was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #49, as well as AFSCME Local #454 of Virginia.

Darrell had a very subtle sense of humor and didn't have to say much to get the point across.

Thank you to the staff at Edgewood for taking such good care of Darrell.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Irene Snidarich; sister, Cheryl (Gustav) Josephson; brothers, Mark (Debbie) and Johnny (Samantha) Snidarich; sons, Darren (Melissa) and Daniel (Shawn) Snidarich; grandchildren, Garett, Drayke, and Cole; and the many many friends that he leaves behind and have gone before him
