Crescence Patricia Zollar

Crescence P. Zollar, 80, of Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Fr. Brandon Moravitz will officiate. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Tower. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Crescence Patricia “Patti” Chiabotti was born on August 17, 1937 to James and Crescence Chiabotti in Soudan, Minnesota. She attended Tower Soudan High School and graduated in 1956. She married Jack J. Zollar on June 28, 1958. Together, they raised five children. The lived in Babbitt, MN until 1978, where Patti worked at the local grocery store. They moved to Joliet, Illinois, where they lived for four years. In 1982, they moved to Mountain Iron, where they lived until 2014. Patti worked at Spies grocery store for many years and for Fingerhut in Eveleth. Then, she worked for the YMCA until she retired in 2014.

She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. She was a Eucharistic minister, sacristan and very active with the Margaret Mary Circle. She taught catechism and was in the choir in Babbitt at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a devoted Catholic woman who loved her faith and gave many hours to her parishes.

Patti enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, knitting, gardening, bowling and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also took great pride in baking her “famous” brownies and potica for family and friends.

Patti crocheted over 2000 bears for the Mother Bear Project, an organization which send the bears to children in Africa who are suffering from the aids virus as well as other often-fatal diseases. She loved when she would get a letter from the children who received one of her bears, often telling her that they now had a friend.

Patti had many friends and was known for her sweet and kind nature.
