Colleen Cholich Obituary

Colleen Mae Cholich, 89, of Hibbing, passed away on June 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Duluth. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 19th at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rod Tuomi will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.

Colleen was born to Lois (Schuster) and Roscoe Harwood on April 3, 1929 in Nowata, Oklahoma. She moved to Hibbing when she was 9 years old. Colleen graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Community College. She married Matthew Cholich on August 6. 1949. Together they built two houses and raised a family. Colleen worked for Hanna Mining Company, St. Leo’s School, and Range Floral. Colleen always kept busy. Some of her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking, square dancing, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. She loved history, geography, politics, old movies, and music. Colleen was devoted to her family, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.

Colleen is survived by her daughter: Julie (Craig) Snow of Duluth; grandchildren: Victoria Franzinelli of Minneapolis, Toni Franzinelli of Hibbing, Molli Franzinelli of Minneapolis, and Maia Harmon of Hibbing; great grandchildren: Hadley, Averi, and Vance; cousins: Bill (Crystal) Ribich, Lewis (Sharon) Ribich, and Louis (Manuel) Saucedo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Cholich; son, Stephen Cholich; daughter, Donna Cholich Harmon; mother, Lois Schuster Harwood; father, Roscoe Harwood; aunt, Leone Ribich; uncle, Lud Ribich; sister, Donna (Harwood) Baumann; and brother, Doug Harwood.
