Christine L. (Karkinen) Johnson

Clifford Leonard Johnson, 78, and Christine Louise Johnson, 78, of Babbitt, MN, died tragically at their residence on October 28, 2023. They were united in marriage on January 13, 1968 in Biwabik, MN. They were blessed with a daughter, Errin Johnson, on April 15, 1970.

Cliff was born in upper Michigan on May 19, 1945 to Edward E. Johnson, Sr. and Edna L. Johnson, where he spent many summers roaming around the countryside of upper Michigan. He served in the Army (101st Airborne) in Okinawa, Japan. He worked many years at Minorca Mine in Virginia, MN. His family agrees that he was a good brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles (Marines), Jerry, George (Air Force), Dale (Navy), and sister, Ida (Air Force).

He is survived by brothers Waino W. Johnson (Navy), Ironwood, Michigan, Edward E. (Sharon) Johnson, Jr., (Navy) Duluth, MN, and Timothy Lee Johnson, Ontonagan, Michigan.

Christine was born in Biwabik, MN on November 3, 1944 to Eino and Sylvia (Salo) Karkinen. She graduated from Biwabik High School in 1962. She was a hairdresser for many years in the Biwabik area. She spent most of her life living in Biwabik and Lakeland.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brothers, Eric (Cozette) of Oak Grove, MN and Les (Mary Lou) Karkinen of Gilbert, MN.

Cliff and Christine are both survived by their daughter, Errin, granddaughter, Falen (Quincy), and their great-granddaughter, Vinnie along with numerous nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their great-grandson, Quincy Clifford Montez Dismuke, Jr.

Funeral arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home in Virginia, MN, where services will be held on Thursday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m.
