Charles R. Koski

Charles R. Koski (91), born August 28, 1932 to Richard and Jessie (Ashmore) Koski in Ogema, MN. Charlie passed away peacefully at home with family on October 5, 2023.

Charlie married his one and only, Patricia (Pat) Rodberg of Shaw, MN on September 18, 1953. Making it 70 yrs of marriage; they had known each since they were very young.

In 1960, he built a home in Makinen with his wife, where they raised their four children Rosanne, Kelly, Cindy, and Marie. He resided there until his passing.

Charlie started working at Erie Mining in 1957 and worked there until he retired in 1991 at the age of 59. He retired young so he could enjoy life. He enjoyed fishing for walleye (but don’t put a northern in his boat!!) and hunting and family get togethers. He enjoyed playing cribbage at the hunting shack, where he never lost a game!

He is survived by his children: Rosanne (Don) Triebwasser, Cotton, Kelly (Deb) Koski, Eveleth, Cindy Thompson, Mt. Iron, and Marie Koski (Gene) Kacer, Kelsey. Sisters: Ione Pollack, Eveleth, and Sharon (Rick) Latour, Duluth, and his sisters-in-laws: Judy Lund, Florida, Bonny (Kenny) Turnboom, Esko, Olly (Chuck) West, Duluth. Brother-in-law Earl Johnson, Harris. Grandchildren: Jeremy Koski, Chad (Melissa) Triebwasser, Amy (Mark) Madden, Blake Triebwasser, Brianne (Tony) Weikle, Ryan (Jess) Niesen, Travis (Kelly) Triebwasser, Kathleen (Randy) Kopic Phillip (Dena) Niesen, Joanna (Tim) Leino, Kalle (Sadie Sellin) Koski and Jacob Zoretich. Great grandchildren: Preslie (John), Colton, Monica, Kade, Logan, Kaylee, Natasha, Alana, Josh, Rylee, Charles, Madalyn, Bailian, Hailey, Lillian, Charlotte, Cedar, Mia, Jackson, Tristan, Eva, Emma, and Aksel and one great-great-granddaughter Darlynn. Numerous nephew and nieces.

Preceded in death by his parents Richard and Jessie Koski. Sisters: Violet Randall and Shirley Johnson. Brother-in-laws: Howard Randall, Nick Pollack, and Jack Lindelof. In-laws: Ed and Shirley Rodberg, Margaret and Oliver Price, Philip (Bud) and Jan Rodberg, and Gary Lund. Son-in-law Marshall Thompson and numerous friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, October 21, from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Cotton Community Center. Private burial will be at the Shaw Community Cemetery.
