Calvin "Cal" L. Baasi, 63, of Iron, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Range Funeral Home at 11:00 am with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. Calvin Lee Baasi was born December 28, 1954 in Eveleth to Leonard and Evangeline (Olson) Baasi. He attended Cherry High School. On December 7, 1974, he was united in marriage to Christine Sartori. Cal was a shovel operator for Erie/LTV Mining, worked at Super One Foods, and also did landscaping as an independent contractor. He was a former Clinton Volunteer Fireman.
Cal enjoyed designing cowboy hats, watching old westerns, puzzles, spending time outside doing yard projects, "tinkering" in his garage, cooking, canning, and preparing meals. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends while hosting get-togethers. Cal was always willing to lend a hand.

Children: Clayton Baasi of Moose Lake and Colleen Rogers (Donald Walters, Jr.) of Duluth
Grandchildren: Reece, Tyler, and Mackenzie
Sister: Susan (Charles) Foix
Brothers: Kenneth (Laura) Baasi and Leon Baasi,
Sisters-in-law: Cynthia (Robert) Dodge and Jeanette Baasi
Brothers-in-law: Gary Sartori and Ronald Palo
Faithful furry companions: Duke and Harkin

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Arvid Johnson; brothers, Melvin and William; sisters, Margaret and Rosalind; sisters-in-law, Peggy Mattila and Susan Sartori; brother-in-law, Jack Mattila; son-in-law, Ernest "Jay" Rogers; and grandson, Michael Rogers
