Audrey (Jarvis) Surla

Audrey Surla, age 92, of Ely Lake, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Essentia Health in Virginia, Minnesota with her daughter by her side.

She was born on July 25, 1932 to John and Hilma (Saari) Jarvis in Sparta, Minnesota.

She graduated from the Gilbert High School in 1950.

Audrey and Robert Surla were united in marriage on December 30, 1950 in the Virginia Finnish Lutheran Church. They made their home in Ely Lake near Eveleth.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Sunnarborg; children: Bonnie Weddel, Gary Surla, Larry (Nancy) Surla, Randy (Lori) Surla, and Terry Surla; daughter-in-law, Linda Surla; grandchildren: Billy Surla, David (Kelly) Surla, Scott (Jessie) Surla, Nicole Surla, Harley (Autum) Surla, and Sara Weddel; 3 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilma Jarvis; husband, Robert Surla in 1997; siblings: Kenneth (Lila) Jarvis, Herb Jarvis, Lorraine (Albin) Plattner, Norma Croll, Raymond Jarvis, and Benhart Jarvis; son, Bradley Surla; daughter-in-law, Lori Surla; and son-in-law, Richard Weddel.

Funeral services will be held on 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth, MN. Visitation will be 1 hour prior, starting 10 a.m. at the church. Reverend Jeanne Madsen will officiate.
