Ashley Elizabeth (Anderson) Kittelson, 35, of International Falls, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. Ashley was born July 21, 1990, to Dennis and Susan (Fortman) Anderson in Duluth, MN and grew up in Britt, MN. She was a 2008 graduate of Virginia High School and was currently employed at Littlefork Care Center.
Ashley dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a nurse and as a mother. She was a devoted mom to her three young children, Lily, JJ, and Derek, who were truly the center of her world. Everything she did was for them, and her love for them was evident in the little things. She always had snacks ready, toys packed, and made sure everything was organized so her children felt cared for and secure. They were her pride and joy. She worked hard to give them a life filled with love, safety, and opportunity, and nothing brought her more joy than being their mom.
Those who knew Ashley will remember her as thoughtful in everything she did, with a sweet and gentle spirit that made people feel comfortable and loved. She had a beautiful soul and one of the kindest, purest hearts. Ashley showed her love through meaningful gifts, quiet acts of kindness, and the care she gave to family, friends, and patients. Her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with those around her will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Anderson; brothers, Darrick Anderson, Joel Anderson, and Brett Anderson; maternal grandparents, Virginia and Clifford Fortman; paternal grandparents, Mildred and Venner Anderson; and aunt, Mitzi Fortman.
Survivors include her children, Lillian Bannert, Jacob Bannert, and Derek Kittelson; stepdaughters, Tori and Lily Kittelson; father, Dennis Anderson of Britt; brother, Kyle (Ann) Anderson of Duluth; sisters, Kelly (Robert) Olson of Albertville, and Stephanie (Dusty) Hannahs of Mt. Iron; nephews: Tyler Olson, Brennen Anderson, Gavin Olson, Jack Anderson, Dusty Hannahs Jr., Cole Olson, Westly Hannahs, and Castin Hannahs; nieces: Crystal Anderson, Ella Olson, Madelyn Olson, and Emma Anderson; aunts, Ginny Hatton of Florida, and Lynda (Kevin) Fahey of Gilbert; along with many cousins and countless dear friends.
Though her time here was far too short, Ashley’s love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will live on through her children and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family asks that you honor Ashley’s memory in your own way or by supporting organizations that help individuals experiencing domestic violence as no service will be planned.
