Amy Johnson Obituary

Amy Lynn (Igo) Johnson
August 18, 1984 – May 5, 2025

Amy Lynn (Igo) Johnson, 40, of Virginia, MN, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on Monday, May 5, 2025. Born and raised in Virginia, Amy was a proud Iron Ranger through and through. She brought light, laughter, and love to everyone she met—and if you knew her, you know that her husband, family, dogs, and friends were what she treasured most on this earth.

She was the heart and soul behind AJ’s Truck Repair of Embarrass and a woman who could out fish most, outshoot many, and out-love them all.

Amy was most at peace at the cabin on Lake Vermilion with Chuck, in the quiet of the woods with her loyal dogs nearby, or behind the wheel chasing the thrill of the open road or open water—whether snowmobile racing, duck hunting, or boating. Her dogs weren’t just pets; they were her kids, her heart. Now, Zellah and Bella run beside her once more, free and forever by her side.

Amy shared the last 17 years of her life with her soulmate and husband, Chuck Johnson. Their love story was one of first loves reunited, second chances, and destiny. After reconnecting, they built a life together rooted in friendship, laughter, adventure, and deep love.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Chuck, and their fur babies, Coalie & Zada; her parents, Mike Igo and his wife Maude; Janet Swanson and her husband Mike; brothers, Ryan Igo, Mike Buck, Jerrod Buck; sisters, Sarah Kapella, Heidi Harfield, Bobbie Jo Cook; nieces, Joey Kapella, Alyvia Fields, and Ryitt Igo; nephews, Chase Kapella, Hayden Igo, and Kyler Tuura; and great-niece, Charlotte Kapella.

Amy is also deeply missed by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless lifelong friends who were more like family. She had a rare and beautiful way of turning connection into kinship, and her circle of love stretches far and wide.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Esther and Albert Jacobson and Jack and Betty Igo; aunts, Gail Jacobson, Gloria Jacobson; uncles: Brian Jacobson, Raymond Lehto, Brian Koupus, William Durbin, and Bruce Elias; her soul sister and Beisimo, Jeannie Wilcox; several cousins, friends; and her treasured fur babies, Zellah and Bella.
