Aila Esther Brunfelt

Aila Esther Brunfelt, 106, of Mt. Iron, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Virginia Care Center. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

Aila was born on February 9, 1912 to Victor and Minnie (Rahjala) Heikkila in Aurora, MN. She was united in marriage to Eino Brunfelt on July 6, 1935. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, blueberry picking, spoiling her dogs, and spending time at her cabin on Lake Vermilion.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Carol) Brunfelt; daughter, Barbara Christofferson; 5 grandsons, Brian Brunfelt, Jarad Brunfelt, Ross (Mindy) Brunfelt, Adam (Jessica) Brunfelt, and Steven Christofferson; 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda, Stephanie, Michelle, Tristan, Lucas, Logan, Anna, and Catherine; 3 great-great-grandsons, Jordan, Kayden, and Ian; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eino; infant daughter, Delores; her parents, Victor and Minnie; sisters, Martha Johnson, Helen Hill, Lillian Mayry, and Irene Heikkila; brothers, Verner, Fillmore, Walter, Robert, John, Wilho, and Arnold Heikkila.
