Johnson, Leon Curt. Age 79, of Virginia, MN. Passed away April 8th, 2024. Leon was a father, brother, son, and friend.
Leon (childhood nickname Butch) grew up in Duluth. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1962, and University of Minnesota Duluth in 1966. He was an active member of his fraternity up until he passed. He was a retired accountant after years of owning his own CPA firm with David Zuelke. While he enjoyed his career, Leon’s joy came from being outdoors. From a young age, he loved going hunting and fishing with family. He would often reminisce about “the good old days” at the family farm in Alango and at the cabin on Lake Vermilion.
Leon made friends with everyone. People remember him as kind and always having a good joke or positive thoughts to share with those he met.
Preceded in death by his mother, Elma; father, Walter; brother, Donald; and brother, Gene.
Survived by his daughter, Christina Johnson; son, Curtis (Kasey) Johnson; grandsons, Braeden and Gavin; sibling, Delores (Jeff) Folmer; close cousin, Judy Faymoville; and numerous friends. His presence will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
